Reheating Sushi Leftovers? Check Out This Guide!

Many people assume sushi must be eaten fresh. However, there are many things you can do to make leftovers just as delicious such as reheating sushi, which can be seen as taboo! We have compiled a guide that will help you to do this. Sushi Inc. knows that not one of our sushi should go to waste.

So, let’s get on with it!

Food Safety

It is important to remember food safety first. You should never keep fish and seafood in the refrigerator, including sushi made with fully cooked fish or shellfish. Three days should be enough to keep fish in the refrigerator. The best sushi will last longer if it is eaten quickly. Refrigerate any leftovers in an airtight container.

Reheating

Let’s now get to the reheating sushi tips. Let the sushi come to room temperature. This is one of our favorite ways to enjoy it later. Take your food out of the refrigerator and allow it to sit for a while before you start snacking. To preserve its flavor and hygiene, keep it in an airtight container. You’ll be able to enjoy your favorite dishes in your own kitchen as the rice and fish will go back to their original texture.

Microwave

Microwave is the second option for reheating sushi. Although we recommend that you heat your sushi at room temperature, it is not always possible. This route requires you to be careful about how your microwave is set up so that the ingredients don’t get too hot. Your microwave’s power should be reduced to 40 or 50 percent. You will heat it at 500 watts. It should be heated in 30 second bursts. It is important to check it before heating it again. This will dry out the food and cause it to lose its texture, which makes sushi delicious.
